Revelation Unlocked #148.

History Tells a Sorry Tale.

“And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore. Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads were blasphemous names.” – Revelation 13:1 NASB

The word blasphemy identifies this power immediately as being religious.

Having established the year-day principle, we need to understand the scope of the 1260 prophetic years, otherwise mentioned as 1260 days; 3 ½ years; time, times and the dividing of times and 42 months. A sevenfold mention which began in Daniel 7, Revelations companion book. There are significant references to Daniel 7 in Revelation 13, one of which is the time period of 1260 years through which the “little horn” rules over the fragments of the Roman empire.

There are no less than 81 ways of identifying the Sea Beast of Revelation 13.

(You can request this Document from me.) As we will see the Beast of Revelation 13 is the same as the little horn of Daniel. The little horn of Daniel 7 had 9 points of Identification: 1] The location of its rise (Europe) 2] the time of its arrival (after 476 AD  and the collapse of pagan Rome.) 3] The manor of its rise. It subdued and destroyed 3 of the 10 tribes that opposed its rise to power – The Heruli, the Vandals, and the Ostrogoths; all of which disappeared from history, while the others became European nations. 4] The nature of its power (It was different because it was a religious/ political power based in the old capital of the Roman Empire.) 5] The extent of its power because it was “stout” (i.e. it was more important and rules over others.) 6] It was boastful 7] It persecuted and killed Gods people. 8] It would think to change God’s laws (Which it openly claims to have done.) 9] The time of its power (It would rule for 1260 years.)

Identification of the “Little Horn,” is crucial to understanding Revelation 13 because this chapter draws heavily on Daniel 7. The “Little horn” is that power that ruled from 538AD, when Justinian gave the empire to the church, until 1798 when Napoleon’s general Berthier took its political authority away. Exactly 1260 prophetic years for the Holy Roman Empire, during which time an estimated 50 -150 million souls lost their lives at the hands of the church. Morally, the papacy believed themselves to be saving thousands of souls by burning, or otherwise exterminating, a single ‘heretic’. Politically, they believed, if possible, by sufficient, persistent, and ruthless persecution, to extinguish heresy altogether. History tells the sorry tale of the death penalty for heresy.

Daniel 7 pictured the union of church and state where the church controlled civil authority. This caused the Pilgrim Fathers, (when they fled into the wilderness of America,) and their decedents, to establish the American Constitution that legislated the separation of Church and State. America was to be a country without a King (democratic) and a church without a Pope (Protestant.)

Daniel 7 is, at this moment,  an important chapter to read if you have time.
